This young red-tailed hawk wasn't happy about me checking out his hunting perch.

Birds in flight have always been a challenge for me, Great Blue Heron.

Were they playful or obedient? I think these zoo cubs get more play with the adults because the latter don't need to hunt.

No, playing is risky! Mom was as ever alert and constantly looking around, either for food or foe.
A fish eagle giving vent to its vocal chords, with a characteristic call that evokes wild Africa. Recognised by mny as the call of Africa and the wild.

In much of New England and Canada, the evocative sound is the call of a Northern Loon. It's haunting.
Gharial, looking sinister without trying.

I remember seeing and hearing fish eagles on Lake Malawi - long time ago!

Couldn't resist posting one of my favourite loon shots - we were lucky enough to witness a post-breeding "social gathering" on a lake where we were staying. This was a very noisy event.

Golden-collared manakin. Aside from being a pretty bird, this one was wiling to sit still and pose, so I got several good images.
