Yep, but they are very much real. I'm sure that there's a lot of animals from Oz which Europeans had trouble believing when they first saw them!

Hawk at a raptor rehab and breeding facility. I did not record the species, but it could be from anywhere in the world.

Brown Hyena, Pilansberg National Park. Far away, and well camouflaged, and tall grass did not help. It is approaching a leopard kill, This is the best of the batch I managed. But at least I saw it better with my binocs.

It can be so annoying when wildlife doesn't sit quietly in the open as they should.
Eagle at the raptor rehab/breeding center, an injured bird that sadly will never be well enough for release. They always look so inflexibly fierce.

the younger rams reinforced that concept several times

one of the things I've enjoyed about wildlife photography are the moments when I am not the blundering, oblivious dolt

some hikers pushed this coyote up out of the high weeds onto a paved track near where we were sitting
