Snowy Owl, We have a snowy owl visiting, only a few miles away, I've driven over an hour away to see the three others that I have seen before. So, I've been out there 5 or 6 times in the last two days and the owl hasn't moved out of this brush pile on private property, so this is the best photo I've been able to get.

Whitetail deer. This individual was a little she. Others in this area are more bold because hunting has been prohibited here for about 80 years, although a few hunters still sneak in.

Our Sooty Oystercatchers look very similar. They are endemic to Australia. It's always a joy to hear their piping sound in flight.

Very interesting Des, wouldn't surprise me if they are the same actually! Still, a couple of thousand km separate them.
