Agreed - the song of the Silvereye is lovely, and that of the Japanese White-eye is very similar. I photographed a Japanese White-eye in December in Takamatsu in Shikoku. I first saw one in Japan back in 2002.

FWIW, the White-eye probably evolved in Australia with most of the world's songbirds.

No doubt referring to Tim Low's compelling and fascinating thesis in his book, "Where Song Began": Tim Low - Where Song Began A nice little teaser here: https://www.thesaturdaypaper.com.au/2014/06/30/where-song-began/1403877600

More park Gray Jays...

I was mostly just out talking to the other photographers, taking a few images with the DA*200 and 1.4 TC between conversational bits. One had the VR on her Canon 100-400 go a little crazy making it impossible to use, and definitely in need of some shot time. She had a 150-600 as a backup so she wasn't suffering at all. Sometimes I go to take pictures, sometimes I go out just to get out of the house on a nice day, and the pictures are incidental.

Incidental pictures.

This glossy starling (I think) is not quite as adept in the art of camouflage.

Another turtle. This one seems to have accumulated some natural camouflage.
