Mr Alert himself

That dainty face with huge, elegant ears could almost be a cartoon version of the beautiful shy woodland antelope.

The fellow above, on the other hand, has a face something less than "dainty."

I was lucky enough to meet Norm in the Park yesterday! Thanks for dropping by, it was great to chat. Oh, and we had a mother moose and calf walk right through our campsite. Where was my camera, in the truck with no battery. Where was the battery? Locked in the laundry room at the rest station; don't ask.

I did spy this little guy with camera and battery

this is a black bear, not a grizzly

yes, black bears don't need to have a dark or black coat

Pair of rose-breasted grosbeaks - sloppy eaters. A bear came through and scattered the bird feeders, but the grosbeaks had already started moving away so I wasn't seeing them so often. I should not, but I will restore the feeders, and the bears will return and make a mess of them again. Local wildlife people say that the local black bears will return for a minimum of five years to any place where they have found something to eat.
