White-necked or Pacific Heron. Bigger than the more-common White-faced Heron. K-S2 + DA 55-300 PLM. Same location, two different days.

Striking spots on the throat.

The New England witless arboreal monkey is noted for its inexplicable lack of tree-climbing skills. Constantly misgauging distances. forgetting to hold on, or leaning back against a non-existent support, they inevitably either fall to their death or as with this individual, they get hung up on a branch by their crotch or armpit. Unable to figure out how to extricate themselves, they will dangle thus until they starve, fall victim to a passing house cat, or are taken captive by a juvenile of the large bipedal primates that wander these trails. Not surprisingly, Inepticebus klutzii messychewbitensis is becoming extremely rare, on the brink of extinction. In all of our many AM walks, this is the only specimen I've ever seen, although once found they are easy to photograph, as they will hang this way indefinitely.

That particular Inepticebus individual has been hanging just as pictured for at least a week. I suspect that the juvenile H. sapiens that had it as a captive earlier is missing it. Made me sad.

Hhhhmmmm! Evident now why stripes and plaid just do not go well together. Of course in the jungle, it is better to clash perhaps. )

Thanks very much for a wonderful wildlife capture. You have really done quite a bit of travelling in your time.

Bit late in commenting, but I did enjoy these shots Rob. Well done. Maybe you should cross-post the bettong in the furry animals thread: Wildlife-Non Squirrel Furry Animal Thread - PentaxForums.com

Blacksmith plover (again). Deep crop of a Bigma image - too little IQ in the original to be satisfactory.

Thanks for the suggestion! Excellent frog photos - we have lots of frogs around at the moment, but they're almost impossible to see!

A surprising find, yesterday I was in Clarksville, Tennessee in the morning and driving around looking for barns to shoot. I did a double take on the field of great egrets. There is also one great blue heron in the filed (OOF)
