sandhill cranes returning to wheeler wildlife refuge Decatur alabama…..there are a handful of whooping cranes but they are so far off the shots are not very good

You are definitely correct on the identification. The very dark upper wing marks it as O anaethetus and not S albifrons. I had missed the bridled tern when going through my Australia Bird Guide (Menkhorst et al).
