He was soaring over the Air Show venue; I was hoping he would clear out before the action started...

That image is from our trip to South Africa during which I had the great good fortune to meet and spend all-too-little time with noelcomn (Noel Bower) a very active contributor to many threads on Pentax Forums. A nicer person cannot be found.

I figured South Africa, I wondered if you were in/near Kruger or one of the other major game parks. Just idle curiosity, my former employer took tour groups to South Africa (and later, to Kenya) many times. As the tour coordinator on our end, I got to live vicariously planning their adventures to parks, high-end lodges, etc.

How wonderful to meet Noel in person! (Hi, Noel!) That would definitely be a highlight!

Hi OrchidJulie,

It was indeed a special occasion, and the privilege was all mine, and a profound honor to have met WPRESTO and his lovely wife. Still ranked one the of the best events of my life, even if it was humbling.- The two of them are a veritable enclyclopedia of knowledge. And so generous. And agreed, the time was all too short, and then I went and made it even shorter by being late on the first occasion we met. . My other regret was not being able to join them in Kruger itself, a place I simply love to bits.

So OrchidJulie, time to stop living vicariously and make a plan. Covid will be something of the past in a short while. And there will still be elephants in Kruger

Hi, Noel...

Ah, if only... you may be sure that if a trip to South Africa appears on my calendar, you'll be the first to know! Indeed, years of sifting through all the passengers' images of game drives in Kruger (at Thornybush, or Kapama) assured me that this was a part of the world I wanted to experience. They traveled elsewhere, including other destinations in SA (Garden Route, Pietermaritzburg, Cape Town, Joburg), several excursions to Zambia for Victoria Falls, and several lodges in Botswana (Chobe Lodge, Mashatu). I always cajoled the passengers into sharing their photos with me (partly for my selfish reasons) so I could put together a tour remembrance on the company's website. Amazing images, all of them!
