How do you put text between the pictures?
I use the imgwide tag to embed my pics - makes them bigger, and I can type between... Your pics look good, nice job with the focusing

I've sent a request to the mods to move this thread.

Interesting idea. I'm out, I have 4 or 5 Pentax 50mm lenses already, and a 135mm prime, am not exactly new to DSLR, so I'll have to sit this one out. will be fun to see what happens though..

Actually I've been thinking about something similar, with several 50's already, I haven't decided, but I might just start a contest someday...best shot posted gets a nifty fifty...for keeps...not sure, but I might just do it, especially if I run across a deal I can't pass up on another one...

Thanks! Focusing is easy when the lens is set to infinity for my eyes!

Entrance sign to the City of Rockford, Illinois, USA. Looks nicer when the perennials are in bloom.

Right Eddie. Then they can join the "single" challenges haha. I'll be observing this one from the side lines as well.

Focusing isn't nearly as bad as you might think. There is the nifty beep/focus lock indicator on the DSLR camera that will tell you when your close just can't be sure if you are using the lens wide open as the DOF is very thin.

Looks like nice weather over there in Illinois no snow in sight.

Spring is here!

Took my son to the playground after school yesterday. It was beautiful outside. I even considered turning on the AC in the car. Didn't!

For Rent

While walking around a lake in Cherry Valley, Illinois, USA, I noticed several bird houses waiting for birds to return this spring.

It looks like you are getting a lot of use out of that lens. Great to see you following up. Keep it up and let us know where it's headed next when you're finished with it.

Working with a manual lens sure is fun. Trying to get a close up of a prairie plant on a windy day and I was surprised by the sharpness of the plant and the background bokeh of the red barns.

I have tried to get pic's of flying ducks. They are common around the library because people feed them along the river, so it's possible to get very close. There are like pigeons. However, it's been tough because of camera shake, manual focus and timing. Maybe this weekend, I can spend more time and get lucky. Am I asking too much of this lens for this activity?

it may be a little short for getting close enough. the trick would be make sure your shutter speed is up around 250 at least and aperture 2.8-4 so you have some in focus zone. on a nice sunny afternoon (after 3 say the light is nicer)with partially shaded areas around the ducks at iso 200 you should be able to easily shoot at 5.6 and 1/250 fast enough to stop the shake and closed down enough to get the whole duck in focus if you get close enough

opened up at f2.0 a shutter of 1/500 at 200 would maybe even be overexposed (the K7 meters well so just put it in m mode frame a duck a set aperture to 2.8-5.6 and press the green button for speed. leave it at that setting and shoot away until the light on the subject changes (clouds move in they go to the shade etc)
