Kit lens thru-the-windshield shot, driving into old downtown on Main St. The tower under construction is the new visitor center.

Glad to see this thread brought back up.

Was that tower building by any chance a train station? What is actually More interesting to me in the shot is the Signal tower closer to you. At least that's what it appears to be. Probably better than 99% of them have been torn down in the USA and replaced with computerized traffic control.

Thanks for showing.

That signal tower is there for looks only - but directly across the street at the right is the train station which is definitely still in use. The Grapevine Vintage Railroad operates an old steam engine that takes visitors from Grapevine to Ft. Worth - about a 20 mile ride. The tall tower structure is a brand new visitor center they're building. Anyway, there's a ton of GVRR videos on YouTube, this one's not too bad:

Great stuff Paul.

Ever since I dared to say something to someone about their comments, this thread seems to have died down but I feel the need to bring it back to the top once in awhile..

This photo is me being an a$$hole with the camera. The road we are on is a single lane through the downtown area of my city. At either end it is two lane but you must be in the Single lane before proceeding through the traffic light. Otherwise you must turn at the intersection. Well, Most people do just that. Once in awhile though, there is some jerk who will Not, and nearly cause a crash trying to get back into the proper lane. Personally, I will not let these people in. They will either hit the parked cars in front of them (the lanes were turned into parking spots for the local businesses) or be forced to turn off and go around the block. In this particular instance, there happened to be a cop watching the intersection. The driver was promptly pulled over and I'm sure was written a ticket. With a 77mm lens, it was impossible to get both in the shot.

... and yes, I was waiting a red light when I took the picture.

I didn't take this one, I was driving and my son was in the back seat, he shot this through the back window. The driver of the car was hauling something in the back seat that stuck though both sides.

Let's see.. what else have I got? *rummages in albums*

Stopped at a red light, there was a pub on the left. I only had my telephoto zoom on though and couldn't get the name of the pub. had to live with just:

kx, tamron, 60-300 23a. this was taken a while ago.

here's another from the weekend, stopping on the way out of the city. that's pyrmont bridge and centrepoint tower that you can see in the background on the left. I think it was the globe light shade thingy that caught my eye.

And here's another oldie. Taken in the city, this 'turret' is actually the top of a pub. You'd be forgiven for thinking there was practically a pub on every street corner in sydney.
