Single In March

Anyone ready for Single in March?

In short these are the rules of the challenge:

-Choose one lens
-Take pictures with the lens each day and upload one of them to a gallery Called "Single in March"
- Do this every day for the hole month

FAQ:
Q: How do I participate?
A: Create an album called "Single in March". Go to your User Control Panel, and under Your Profile, choose "Edit Photo Albums". There you can create the album.

Q: Once I've created my album, where/how do I submit my album to be included?
A: There is no need to submit it as everybody participating in the challenge will be listed here (click me!) automatically because they are all called "Single in J....". Note that your album will not show up until it contains at least one picture.

Q: Must I upload a picture every day?
A: No, you can upload it whenever you feel like, but you must choose one for each day

Q: What if I miss a shot?
A: Do not worry about it!

Q: What is a "safety shot"?
A: It is a picture that you take early in the day as a backup if you get too busy to get the shot you wanted

Q: What about all my other lenses, can't I use them?
A: Not for this challenge, but you can shoot with them all you want

Q: If I choose a zoom lens, do I have to stick with one focal length on that lens? Or can I have the entire focal range?
A: You can use the entire focal range

Q: Is it against the rules if I use an extension tube together with the lens?
A: Not at all, you are still using the same lens!

Q: How about mounting the lens reversed then?
A: You can do that! :-)

Q: Is it just for curing LBA?
A: No! You learn a lot from using a single lens for a month, why not choose one of your least favorite ones and get to know it better?
A: You get a new bunch of friends who also shoot one picture every day
A: If you choose a similar lens as someone else, you can compare shots, image quality and share notes *aawww* :-)

Q: Is it hard?
A: The first 7 days are easy. The next 7 will get you on your toes, the next 7 will make you head hurt and if you survive that till the end you will have a bunch of fantastic shots spread out over a whole month

Q: What about that gallery, I do not have enough space for my pictures!
A: Have you considered donating to the site? It will get you a bunch of space and keep the site advertising free! You know you love it like that :-)

Q: Any hints with regards to the Album?
A: Take a snapshot of your chosen lens? Make todays picture the album cover?

Q: Photobook!
A: Yes! What a great idea, a book with photographs chosen by the challengers. Just remember to save the original files so you will have good material for prints

Q: What is this Monthly Challenges group that I have been hearing about?
A: Oh you can find that here

Q: Can I have a look at past challenges?
A: Yes, you can find them here, here, here and here and here

Now lets brainstorm on some themes you might want to do during this month.
They're not obligated of course, but it's fun to do and will help you maybe during those uninspired days. I don't think we have to do them at the same time, it might be a little bit boring if everyone would do one week of b&w for example.

So.... lets hear it.

When the month starts I'll add all the themes we like here, so it's easier to find them.

I'd think I would like:
Bokeh
Slow shutter speed.

As to a theme, I'll play along if that's what the group decides to do but I'd prefer to just freelance it. Haven't decided on the lens yet. I'm thinking the FA*24 f2.0 but may change that- If I participate. The K5 is due Thursday.

You're not obligated to do an extra theme, Jeff.
If you don't want, just don't. Shoot whatever comes in sight.

And oops, about the mistake, that happens when you copy/paste!
I'll fix it, thanks.

Lucky is right. The wife loves me. I still have to learn how to use it. It seems a lot different than my K10D

Haven't done this for a while - I have had a 150mm old Isco that I haven't shot more than a test shot with since I bought- give my image taking a push along as I haven't done much new stuff lately.

We shall see how this turns out....

I find themes hard to get here so, like Jeff, I'd rather do just whatever flies into range of my camera. I was thinking about using an older m lenses, but my friends (birds, and squirrels) are back and I'm going with the Sigma 70-300mm Macro lens.

And so I am joining again, in an effort to make these challenges keep my 365 project going. This time around I'll be using a Tamron 90mm f2.5 macro lens. I love it so far and it quite awesome at portraits too! I like the idea of themes. Should make life easier when one gets "stuck".

It is indeed. It came about because I was doing the Single in January and now February challenges, so I was taking shots for those anyway. I figured, I may as well try to go for the whole year So far so good. I'm setting up a flickr account sometime soon.

The second you do hit me up with the link. You will inspire me to get off my rear and do the same. I also think it had to do with the arctic temperatures we were having here in Chicago

But you do already have a Flickr account, don't you?
Or is it your evil twin that joined my group?
But it's great you're joining again.

I do, I just had to pay for a pro account (which I did now). My free account was full with pics. I will be setting up the appropriate sets when I get home. Oh, and Karen, what's the theme for this week? Colorful?
