Rense, really sorry to here that.

Just as a side question, Do you guys format your cards often? I know I have a bunch of empty folders on there from moving pictures over but I just intended to delete them when I took the time.

And I may well see you guys in May, June or July singles.

So.... I've recovered a fair amount of photos, enough, I guess, to continue. The ones I consider to be the best, or the most promising ones are lost, but at least there won't be gaps in my SiA-album. THANKS TO PATRICK!

Soldier on Rense. AFAIC, the point of the challenge is to do your best for the whole month. Life will get in the way at times, but that shouldn't force anyone out of the challenge if the intent is there.

I agree keep going Rense, i've had a couple of days in past challenges where i posted filler from the previous day due to being out of commission

What a drama Rense! I am glad you were able to recover some of your images and I would love to know what program that is. I lost a large number of files from a memory card trying to copy them to a computer at work (nothing as glorious as Rome but a record of our annual fundraising brunch).

Joe, it is PhotoRescue: DataRescue: home of PhotoRescue, data recovery solution for flash memory cards. It saved about 25% of my photos...

I always format them. First I put them on my computer, than I'll make a back-up and than I'll format the card. I take a lot of pictures every day, so the chance that I don't upload anything to my computer is very small. Thank goodness nothing like what happened to Rense has ever happened to me *knock on wood*

I've formatted my card twice in the last 18 months that I've had it. Both times I was getting card errors in the camera (but it was fine on the computer). The last one was a full format (not the re-tag the files type that takes 10 seconds).

Glad you could get some pictures back Rense. Please don't give up on this month!
As to the PhotoRescue software I am just a satisfied customer - no other connection. There is other software on the market which does the same job. It basically scans your memory card and shows you what it can recover, you can then buy the software and then get the files. There may even be free alternatives that I don't know about.

Good news, Rense.
Glad to see you were able to salvage images from this disaster.
Carry on. April feels like it is flying by, maybe because of the changing weather.

I'v been couple of days outta here, and a just read about disaster of what happend to Rense. I'm clad some pictures survived and that you are continueing with us!
