Aneta Corsaut was Steve McQueen's girlfriend in The Blob, and Andy's girlfriend on The Andy Griffith Show.


James Luisi was Lt Doug Chapman on the Rockford Files, and a repeater on TVs Santa Barbara.


Yakima Canutt started as a world champion rodeo rider, got into movie stunts including the drop from the horse in Stagecoach and the chariot race in Ben Hur, and also did second-unit directing.

Actor Abraham Leon Springer Fuchs started his career as a stage actor, often writing his own music and lyrics. He had guest spots on many TV shows, and was Chief Rabbi in the movie The Frisco Kid with Gene Wilder.


Actor Joseph Schildkraut is probably best-known as Otto Frank in 1959's The Diary of Anne Frank, though he won a best supporting actor oscar for 1937's The Life of Emil Zola.


Morty Corb was a jazz double-bassist, playing with Ella Fitzgerald, Nat King Cole, Pearl Bailey, Louis Armstrong, and Benny Goodman, and on Bob Crosby's TV show for 4 years. He worked in Disneyland bands after moving to California in 1947, and recorded his only album as a leader, Strictly from Dixie, in 1957.

Bill Stout was a broadcast journalist in Los Angeles for over thirty years. He moderated Richard Nixon's press conference following his defeat in the California governor's race in 1962, and acted in a half-dozen movies as a reporter.


Diane Linkletter was Art's daughter, and jumped from a balcony to her death, which was ruled a suicide. No drugs were found in her system though Art Linkletter blamed it on LSD. Her boyfriend was in the apartment at the time, and coincidentally, years later was with actress Carol Wayne before she died.


Actor William Talman is best-known as the attorney on Perry Mason, and was the creepy hitch-hiker in the movie "Hitch-hiker".

Derek Cannell was the son of television producer and writer Stephen J. Cannell, and had worked as an intern in his dad's office. He suffocated when a giant sand castle collapsed on him.


16-year old William Miller stole some wine from a liquor store, and killed a cop before dying in a shoot-out.

Douglas "Wrong Way" Corrigan supposedly flew by accident to Ireland rather than San Francisco from New York in 1938, and became a national hero. Facts indicate he planned it. Previously, he was a mechanic for Ryan aircraft, maker of the aircraft used by Charles Lindbergh, and had been the one who pulled the wheel chocks to start that famous flight.


Glenn L Martin was a pioneer of aviation, starting out selling excellent home-made kites for a quarter as a kid.


In 1912, he flew a home-built seaplane from Newport Beach to Catalina Island and back. His B-26 Marauder bomber flew in WWII.

Ron Goldman and Nicole Brown Simpson were double-murder victims. The accused murderer, OJ Simpson was acquitted in a criminal trial, and found guilty in a civil trial.


Jack Kirby was a comic book artist who co-created the Marvel Comic's characters Captain America, the Fantastic Four, the Hulk, Thor, the X-Men, the Black Panther, and Silver Surfer.


Graham Jarvis was a familiar acting face on The Guiding Light, and in Trial By Jury, Misery, Do You Known The Muffin Man?, and Carpool. His last TV role was the alzheimer's-suffering father of Annie Camden on 7th Heaven.

Harry Nilsson was a Grammy-winning singer/songwriter, and wrote the theme to Midnight Cowboy 'Everybody's Talkin'', the theme of The Courtship of Eddie's Father 'Best Friend', famously covered 'Without You', and wrote 'One' which was popularized by Three Dog Night.


Bert Goodrich was the first winner of the Mr. America competition in 1939, and acted in a few movies.


Clete Roberts was a newsman and war-correspondent, often reporting from the war-zone. He appeared on a 2-part episode of MASH.

Cesare Danova planned to be a surgeon, but ended up acting in The Captain’s Daughter, Catch Me if You Can, Tender is the Night, Gidget Goes to Rome, Cleopatra, Viva Las Vegas, Boy Did I Get a Wrong Number and Animal House.


Singer Karen Carpenter and her brother Richard found fame with the easy-listening songs Close To You, and We've Only Just Begun.


She died at age 33 of cardiac arrest after recurring bouts of anorexia nervosa.

Pamela Susan Coulson had a common-law marriage to The Doors singer Jim Morrison. Jim died in 1971 at age 27. Pam died 3 years later from heroin, also aged 27. Red-tape prevented her burial with Jim in Paris. She grew up locally, here.


Leo Fender taught himself electronics repair and developed the Telecaster and Stratocaster guitars. Supposedly he never learned to play them.


Cornelia ten Boom was a survivor of concentration camps and helped many Jews escape the Nazis. In 1970, she co-wrote her autobiography, The Hiding Place, which was made into a film.

Chief Dark Cloud, born Elijah Tahamont, was one of the earliest Native American film actors. He was also a popular and highly paid model who posed for over twenty years for famed sculptor Frederic Remington.


Hans Tanner was the official historian for Ferrari, and wrote the definitive book on the car and the man.


Medal of Honor recipient Benjamin Hilliker.
For extraordinary heroism on 4 June 1863, while serving with Company A, 8th Wisconsin Infantry, in action at Mechanicsburg, Mississippi. When men were needed to oppose a superior Confederate force Musician Hilliker laid down his drum for a rifle and proceeded to the front of the skirmish line which was about 120 feet from the enemy. While on this volunteer mission and firing at the enemy he was hit in the head with a minie ball which passed through him. An order was given to "lay him in the shade; he won't last long." He recovered from this wound being left with an ugly scar.

Sydney Lassick may be best remembered as Charlie Cheswick in One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest. "I want MY cigarettes, nurse Ratched - MY cigarettes!". He was also English teacher Mr. Fromm in "Carrie", and trailer park manager Woody Wilson in "Freeway." He appeared on TV's Archie's Place, and the New Mike Hammer.

Charles Beaumont wrote many Twilight Zone episodes, movies scripts and other stories, and wrote Playboy magazine's first short-fiction story in 1954. I found him, finally, on about my fourth visit and multiple search of the day. His marker was half covered with muddy water.

Joe Viterelli acted in Analyze This, Analyze That, State of Grace, Mobsters, Bullets over Broadway, Eraser, Mickey Blue Eyes and Face to Face.

Leo Penn was a director, producer, writer, and actor. He was the father of actors Sean and Chris.


Henry Hathaway directed John Wayne, Dean Martin, Richard Burton, Steve McQueen, Karl Malden, Rita Hayworth, and Gregory Peck in films including True Grit, The Sons of Katie Elder, North To Alaska, How The West Was Won, and Nevada Smith.

Scott Brady was a boxing champ in the Navy, and a lumberjack before his acting career. He was in He Walked by Night and Johnny Guitar, and in TV's Police Story.


Charles "Daws" Butler was the voice of Yogi Bear, Huckleberry Hound, Quick Draw McGraw, Snagglepuss, Augie Doggie, Elroy Jetson, Cap'n Crunch, and others.


Conrad Hilton, Jr. was a hotel heir, businessman, and director of TWA. He was the great-uncle of Paris and Nicky Hilton. Briefly married to Elizabeth Taylor, then dated Natalie Wood and Joan Collins.

Dallas Bixler was an Olympic gold-medalist on the horizontal bar in 1932. Retiring after injuries in 1935, he went into banking, then was food supervisor at Disneyland, and helped with the 1984 US Olympic committee.


Jack Norworth wrote 'Take Me Out to the Ball Game'. I could not find his original marker 'nearby'.
