Actor Cesar Romero was the distinguished Latin lover of musicals and romantic comedies, and The Cisco Kid in low-budget westerns. He may be best remembered as the Joker on the 60s TV's Batman series.


Betty Grable was a pin-up poster girl during WWII. She starred in comedies and musicals, and was the highest-paid Hollywood star in 1947. "I'm a song-and-dance girl. I can act enough to get by. But that's the limit of my talents."

Edward Raymond Cochran was a rockabilly musician. Songs include "C'mon Everybody", "Somethin' Else", and most-famously "Summertime Blues". In 1987, Cochran was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.


Ken Maynard started in carnivals and circuses, becoming an accomplished horseman in Buffalo Bill's Wild West. After WWI, Maynard acted and did stunt work, and became a cowboy star. His alcoholism ended his career in the mid-40s, after 90 films.

My-Ca Dinh Le was one of two children who, along with actor Vic Morrow, was killed on the set of The Twilight Zone movie during a stunt when a helicopter crashed on them.


Glenn Quinn was an actor in TV and film, known as Mark Healy on the TV sitcom Roseanne, and Doyle, a half-demon, on the series Angel.

Nacio Brown was a composer, writing Broadway Melody, You Are My Lucky Star, Broadway Rhythm, Temptation, and most-famously Singin' in the Rain from The Hollywood Revue of 1929, later made famous by Gene Kelly.


Richard Berry gained fame with his song Louie, Louie, which the FBI futily investigated for obscene lyrics.


Ella Fitzgerald was primarily a jazz singer, with a 3-octave range. She won 13 Grammy's and was awarded the National Medal of Arts by Ronald Reagan and the Presidential Medal of Freedom by George Bush.

Actor Gordon Jump is most famous as the station manager on the TV series WKRP In Cincinnati, the chief of police on Soap, and the repairman in Maytag commercials.


Florence Griffith-Joyner was an Olympic gold medal sprinter, known for her flashy homemade outfits and long fingernails. She still holds world records in the 100m and 200m dash.

Harry Stradling was a cinematographer and had 12 oscar nominations, winning for The Picture of Dorian Gray, and My Fair Lady.

Thaddeus C Lowe was Abraham Lincoln's Chief of Aeronautics and used manned observation balloons during the Civil War. He was an inventor, and developed the Lowe Railway in Los Angeles.



San Francisco Columbarium.
"Chet" Helms, often called the father of San Francisco's "1967 Summer of Love," was the founder and manager of Big Brother and the Holding Company, and helped stage free concerts and other events at Golden Gate Park and the Avalon Ballroom.

Randy Rhoads was a heavy metal guitarist who co-founded Quiet Riot, and left them to play with Ozzy Osbourne.


Jackson quitars started a line of RR guitars just before his death, which was in a plane crash.


James Earp was Wyatt Earp's brother. He was occasionally a lawman, and mostly a saloon owner. He lived the last part of his life locally.


Swede Savage crashed into the wall while about to retake the lead at the 1973 Indy 500. He died in the hospital a month later from kidney failure. He grew up locally.

Robert Riskin wrote screenplays, many filmed by director Frank Capra. They include oscar-nominated screenplays for Lady for a Day, Mr. Deeds Goes to Town, You Can't Take It with You, and Here Comes the Groom. He won the oscar for 1934's It Happened One Night.


Ferde Grofé was a composer, and arranged George Gershwin's Rhapsody In Blue, and wrote the Grand Canyon Suite.


Layne Britton was a make-up artist and actor in Hollywood from 1939 until 1989. He worked with many notable actors and musicians, such as Frank Sinatra, Bob Hope, John Belushi, John Candy and Jane Russell.

Donald E. Stewart won the Best Screenplay Oscar for the drama "Missing" in 1982.


Jack Elliott was a movie and TV songwriter including movies The Happiest Millionaire, Myra Breckinridge, Oh God!, and The Jerk, and TV's The Rookies, Banacek, Police Story, Get Christie Love, Barney Miller, Starsky and Hutch, Charlie's Angels, The Love Boat, and Night Court.

Les Tremayne was a radio, film, and television actor. He danced as a vaudeville performer and was an amusement park barker. Films include A Man Called Peter, The Racket, The War of The Worlds and North by Northwest. In the the National Radio Hall of Fame in 1995.


Marvin Davis was an industrialist and philanthropist. He made his fortunes as the chairman of Davis Petroleum and at one time owned 20th Century Fox, Pebble Beach, the Beverly Hills Hotel, the Denver Broncos NFL team, and the Aspen Skiing Company.

Fanny Brice was a comedienne, singer, and actress, and creator and star of The Baby Snooks Show. Barbra Streisand played her character in Funny Girl. This area is usually locked by a small gate which happened to be open this time. I had planned on using the 90mm to shoot from the gate.


Ray Evans and partner composer Jay Livingston won Oscars for Buttons and Bows, Mona Lisa, and Que Sera Sera.


William Sackheim was a writer and producer, and won 2 Emmys. He produced Gidget and The Flying Nun, and co-wrote the Rambo movie, First Blood.

James Aubrey was a TV producer, and was president of CBS from 1959 to 1965 and MGM from 1969 to 1973.


Harold Hecht started as a stage actor and dancer, then became an agent. He also produced The Kentuckian, Marty, and The Birdman of Alcatraz.


Gregson Bautzer was an attorney, representing Ginger Rogers, Ingrid Bergman, Joan Crawford, MGM owner Kirk Kerkorian and Howard Hughes. He married actress Dana Wynter. He founded the Los Angeles Music Center.

Don Stansauk was a professional wrestler know as Hard-boiled Haggerty. He did some acting after his pro career.


Otto Kruger acted in Chained with Clark Gable and Joan Crawford, and in Magnificent Obsession. He usually played the heavy or businessman.


Chris Mims played professional football for the Chargers and Redskins. He was found dead in his apartment during a welfare inspection. He weighed 450 lbs and had an enlarged heart.

Jess Willard was a boxer, winning the world heavyweight title from Jack Johnson in April 1915 (earning the nickname "The Great White Hope") and lost it to Jack Dempsey in July 1919.


Henrik Galstyan was a judo champion, and was shot to death at a mini-mall in an argument over money.


Ernie Anderson was a disc jockey, and TV/radio announcer and voiceover artist. He is best known as Ghoulardi, the host of a late night horror movie presentation, and for his longtime role as the main voice of ABC.
