Forest Lawn, Glendale.

The landmark monument for comedian/actor Joe E. Brown at Forest Lawn. Also here is Brown's adopted son, producer "Mike" Frankovich, and Mike's wife actress Binnie Barnes (Frankovich).


Mike helped bring the Raiders football and Olympics to Los Angeles. Binnie Barnes acted in the Private Life of Henry the VIII, Three Smart Girls, the Three Musketeers, and her last movie, 40 Carats.

Joseph Meilani, as Chef Milani, was a TV, radio, and film personality. He also was the food director at the famous Hollywood Canteen during its heyday in the 1940s.


Blossom Rock worked in vaudeville with husband Clarence Rock, then acted in films as Marie Blake. Best known as Grandmama in the The Addams Family TV show. Sister of actress Jeanette MacDonald.


Clarence Rock was the husband of actress Blossom Rock. They worked together in vaudeville. He acted in a couple movies, then was the night manager at the Beverly Hills Hilton for 15 years until his death.

Jose Paige acted as Don Alvarado, a name given to him by studio head Jack Warner. Warner also convinced Don's wife to get a divorce, and later married her. Many years later Page managed his former wife's cattle ranch.


Joy Page is most famous as the newlywed in Casablanca, a role she got from step-father producer Jack L Warner. Her biological father was Latin-lover actor Don Alvarado, above.


Joy Page married William Orr, who was soon made a producer by Jack Warner, and later headed Warner Bros TV. They divorced in 1970.

Paul Webster was a dance instructor at Arthur Murray's, then became a songwriter. He was nominated for 16 oscars, winning for Secret Love, Love is a Many Splendored Thing and The Shadow of Your Smile.


Norman Panama was a writer and director, including Road to Utopia, Mr. Blandings Builds His Dream House, Strictly Dishonorable, White Christmas, The Court Jester, and The Trap.


Julia Phillips was the first oscar-winning female (co-)producer for The Sting, as well as Taxi Driver, and Close Encounters of the Third Kind. She wrote You'll Never Work In This Town Again, based on her experiences.

Suzanna Kim was a dancer in Sons of the Desert, The Singing Marine, and Slaves of Bondage, all in the 30's. She was Little Fool in 1937's The Good Earth, and the woman on the sidewalk in 1989s forgettable The Wicked Stepmother.


Hugo Riesenfeld was a composer, including for movies Joan the Woman, The Ten Commandments (1923), The King of Kings, Abraham Lincoln, Sunrise, and Tabu.


Ben Pollack was a drummer and bandleader through the swing era. He either discovered or employed, at one time or another, Benny Goodman, Jack Teagarden, Glenn Miller, Jimmy McPartland and Harry James - earning him the nickname Father of Swing.

Barton Yarborough was a radio actor in One Man's Family, I Love a Mystery, and Dragnet. On TV he was the original partner of Joe Friday in two episodes, before dying of a heart attack.


Elwood Ingledue founded Hotel and Travel Index, a listing of hotel rates and services, in 1928. He also published the International Golf Directory.

David Dukes acted in Gods and Monsters, Dawson's Creek, Pauly, The Mommies, Sisters, and War and Remembrance.

Georges Delarue wrote movie scores, notably A Little Romance which earned him an oscar, Julia, Day of the Dolphin and Platoon.


Born Lester Anthony Minnelli, director Vincente Minnelli made "Gigi", "An American in Paris", and "Meet Me in St. Louis".


Valles was a costume designer on A Christmas Carol, National Velvet, The Picture of Dorian Gray, and The Yearling. He was oscar-nominated for That Forsyte Woman, and shared an oscar win for Spartacus.

Gus Kahn was a lyricist for vaudeville and film. Songs include It Had To Be You, Makin' Whoopee! and I'll See You in My Dreams, which became the title of a biopic starring Danny Thomas.


Ray Raymond was an actor and singer. He confronted actor Paul Kelly about an affair with Ray's wife, actress Dorothy Mackaye. Kelly beat Raymond to death. Kelly and Mackaye were convicted of manslaughter, and married after their prison time.


Granville Redmond was an American landscape painter and exponent of Tonalism and California Impressionism. Actor Charlie Chaplin based some mannerisms on him, as Redmond used sign language after becoming deaf at age 3.

Ray Rennahan was a cinematographer, winning oscars for Gone with the Wind, and Blood and Sand. He was nominated for Drums Along the Mohawk, Down Argentine Way, The Blue Bird, Louisiana Purchase, For Whom the Bell Tolls, and Lady in the Dark.



Joyce Compton started as a WAMPAS Baby Star in 1926, and subsequently acted in Imitation of Life, Magnificent Obsession, The Awful Truth, Mildred Pierce, and The Best Years of Our Lives.


Bert Remsen acted in Brewster McCloud, McCabe & Mrs. Miller, Thieves Like Us, California Split, Nashville, Buffalo Bill and the Indians, and A Wedding. After an injury, he went into casting.

Miklos Rozsa was a composer and scored films, winning oscars for Spellbound, A Double Life, and Ben-Hur.


Hans Moebus was a German-born actor of the 1940s and 50s, mostly in uncredited roles. He played the butler in A Place in the Sun with Elizabeth Taylor and Montgomery Clift.


Harry Poppe was an associate producer on Sky King, and the Lone Ranger, and production exec on My Favorite Martian. He also had worked as the stage manager for Harry Houdini in England.

Robert Shayne found fame as Insp. Bill Henderson on TVs Adventures of Superman. As a child, he once sat in president William H Taft's lap and remarked about Taft's (large) belly.


John Myhers acted in multiple spots in Get Smart, Hogan's Heroes, Love American Style, and Fantasy Island.


Ruth St Denis was a dancer, choreographer, and pioneer of modern dance using eastern and oriental influences. With her husband, Ted Shawn, founded the Denishawn dance company and school.

Donald Loker was a college athlete, then a professional football player before starting his acting career as Don Terry. He was featured in the Don Winslow series of movies in the 40's.


John Sublett, known as John Bubbles, was a vaudeville entertainer, most famous as a tap-dancer. He and his partner were the first black performers at Radio City Music Hall, in 1931. Supposedly, Michael Jackson named his chimpanzee after him.


John Logan acted in movies from 1952 to 1972, including Jailhouse Rock, Some Like It Hot, and Beyond the Valley of the Dolls.

Herbert Magidson was a composer, and co-wrote the first oscar-winning song, The Continental, for 1934's The Gay Divorcee. His songs were used in 20 movies. He's in the Songwriter's HOF.


Sol Lesser was a film producer. His first film was a documentary in 1915 called The Last Night of the Barbary Coast. He bought theaters and began producing films, including Oliver Twist and Peck's Bad Boy, and some of the Tarzan movies.


David Opatashu was an actor, whose first film was in Yiddish. He was in Star Trek, The Outer Limits, and Ironside. He won an Emmy for an episode of Gabriel's Fire. He wrote the screenplay for Romance of the Horsethief based on his father's novel.

Charles Toberman was a real estate developer known as Mr. Hollywood and the Father of Hollywood for his role in developing Hollywood and many of its landmarks.


Buildings include the Hollywood Bowl, Grauman's Chinese Theater, El Capitan Theatre, the Roosevelt Hotel, the Egyptian Theatre and the Hollywood Masonic Temple.


Bronislaw Kaper was a Polish film composer, noted for the jazz standards Invitation, and On Green Dolphin Street. He also scored MGMs Lili and TVs The FBI.


Edward Small was a film producer, including The Count of Monte Cristo, The Man in the Iron Mask, Brewster's Millions, and Kansas City Confidential.
