Harry Helmsley (1909–1997), real estate mogul who built a company that became one of the biggest property holders in the United States, and his wife Leona Helmsley (1920-2007), in a mausoleum with a stained-glass panorama of the Manhattan skyline. Leona famously bequeathed $12 million to her dog.
note to Sleepy Hollow Cemetery - bill the dog for removal of the 5 gal paint buckets.

Sonny Bupp was a child actor who appeared in two Our Gang films, Annie Oakley, the Three Stooges' Cash and Carry, Lost Horizon, and in Citizen Kane as the young Charles Foster Kane.


Marvin Koral was a saxophonist and bandleader. He played with Tommy Dorsey's band, and with Harry James at Carnegie Hall.

Joe Behar was an Emmy-winning TV director of From These Roots, General Hospital, People Will Talk, Let's Make A Deal, and Days Of Our Lives.


Ray William Pollard was the lead singer in the doo-wop group The Wanderers, which had a hit with the cover of For Your Love, Ray later was in the Broadway musical Purlie, and played solo in clubs.

Maceo Anderson founded a trio of dancers who performed at Harlem's Cotton Club, and later founded the tap dancing group The Four Step Brothers, which performed for 30 years. They were the first black act to perform at Radio City Music Hall.

Danny Gans started as a pro baseball player, and has a small role in Bull Durham as a third baseman. After an injury he became a comedian and entertainer, mostly in Las Vegas, where was the Entertainer of the Year, with the Show of the Year.


Tony Curtis starred in The Boston Strangler and in Houdini. He co-starred in Trapeze, The Defiant Ones, Spartacus, and Some Like It Hot.


Tony Curtis is famous for saying he'd never be seen dead with a woman old enough to be his wife. He was married 6 times, once to actress Janet Leigh. Father of Jamie Lee Curtis.

Dolores Fuller was the one-time girlfriend of director Ed Wood and acted in some of his movies, and others. Later, Elvis Presley recorded a number of her songs written for his films.


Freddie Bell was a trombonist, bassist, drummer, and singer in various bands. In 1952 he formed the Bellboys. They appeared in Rock Around the Clock and performed their song Giddy Up A Ding Dong in it.


The Bellboys were more popular outside of the USA, but had a strong show in Las Vegas.

John Brimhall was a musical arranger and author of books on music composition, theory, and performance, including his easy arrangements of classical and pop music for piano students, "Bach to the Beatles with Brimhall".


Hank Greenspun published the Las Vegas Sun newspaper since 1949, he was the publicity agent when gangster Bugsy Siegel was trying to open the Flamingo Hotel, and he was pardoned by JFK for selling arms to Israel.


Hank Greenspun also was into real estate and controlled much of Henderson, NV. He also started Nevada's first TV station, KLAS-TV.

Pancho Gonzalez was a champion tennis player, ranked No. 1 for eight years in the 1950s and early 1960s. His first racquet at age 12 cost 51 cents.


Diego Corrales was a lightweight and super featherweight champion boxer. He was 105-12 as an amateur and 40-5 as a pro. He drunkenly crashed his motorcycle.

Harold Pruett acted in Sybil, Night Court, The Outsiders, Hull High, Medicine Ball, and most famously as Cody in Parker Lewis Can't Lose.


His mom was fixing flowers. She owns the famous Bagdad cafe in Newberry Springs. I still have a coffee cup from there.


Hans Salter composed scores for The Wolf Man, Creature from the Black Lagoon, and The Incredible Shrinking Man. He had oscar nominations for Christmas Holiday, The Merry Monahans, and This Love Of Ours.

Richard Maibaum was a screenwriter who worked on The Big Clock, and The Great Gatsby, and then the James Bond movies from Dr. No through License to Kill.


Allen Holubar was an actor, director and screenwriter in the silent era. He appeared in 38 films, and directed 33 films. He died early from pneumonia.


Dorothy Phillips was an actress in 150 movies during the silent era, with a few uncredited appearances in the 40-60's. She was married to Allen Holubar.
