Edward Carfagno was a 3-time oscar-winning art director for The Bad and the Beautiful, Julius Caesar, and Ben-Hur, and was a US Olympic fencer in 1940.



William Couch was a stuntman/coordinator in The Green Berets, Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid, Dirty Harry, Deliverance, Blazing Saddles, and Star Trek movies.


Willie Bobo was the stage name of William Correa, who was a percussionist in Latin jazz. He played with various bands including his own and with Carlos Santana, and on Bill Cosby's variety show, Cos.

Matthew Ansara was an actor, including roles in 2 movies with his mother Barbara Eden. He suffered from clinical depression and died of a heroin OD.


Marvin Hatley was a film composer and musical director, with the Hal Roach studio from 1929-40. He composed "The Cookoo Song" which was Laurel and Hardy's theme song. He twice earned oscar nominations.


Tony Fontane was a pop singer in the 40s and 50's. After a near-fatal car crash and vision of God during a 30-day coma, he "converted" from atheism to Christianity and became a gospel singer.

Raymond Glenn acted in Westerns as Bob Custer in the 20's and '30's, and in non-westerns using his real name. After his acting career, he eventually became the chief building inspector in Newport Beach.


Paul Conrad was a political cartoonist for newspapers including the Denver Post and Los Angeles Times. Conrad wrote several books, and earned the Pulitzer Prize in 1964, 1971 and 1984.


Adelle Davis was an author and nutritionist, recommending unprocessed food and vitamin supplements. She became the most popular nutritionist in the US, but she was also criticized (and sued) for many recommendations.

Frankie Thomas was an actor whose biggest role was as Tom Corbett, Space Cadet. After acting, he began writing, and playing master-level bridge and teaching its strategy.


Esther Phillips was known for her R&B vocals, but she also performed pop, country, jazz, blues and soul music. She was nominated for a Grammy 4 times.


Tony Pope was a voice actor on TVs The Dukes, Pole Position, The Transformers, Creepy Crawlers and others.

Christopher Sylbert was a stand-up comedian, winning L.A. Cabaret's "Funniest Person in the Valley" in 1994. He battled multiple sclerosis for nearly 20 years. His nickname Stick was derived from his walking cane.


Gordon Schroeder was a pit-crew member of Indy race teams, and developed an innovative racing chassis and components.

Charles Chaplin was the son, and Lillian Grey the second wife, of actor Charlie Chaplin. Jr and Sr appeared in The Limelight. Grey won the largest divorce settlement at the time in 1927. Both wrote separate books about their family life.


Dudley Nichols was a screenwriter for Stagecoach, For Whom the Bell Tolls, Scarlet Street, And Then There Were None, Bringing Up Baby, and The Tin Star. He refused an oscar in 1936 because the guild was on strike.


Harry Vejar acted in 40 mostly-uncredited roles, in Scarface, The Hunchback of Notre Dame, Citizen Kane, The Treasure of the Sierra Madre, and Invasion of the Body Snatchers.

Stuart Hamblen was a radio singing cowboy, actor, Christian songwriter, alcoholic-turned-temperance supporter, and recurring political candidate including the '52 Presidency.


Dimitra Arliss acted in The Sting, Firefox, The Other Side of Midnite, It's My Party, and was the voice of Anastasia Hardy in the animated Spiderman series.

William Clothier was a set painter, then cinematographer on Wings, The Sea Chase, The Man Who Shot Liberty Valance, and The Train Robbers. He also flew 17 missions in the Memphis Belle in WWII.


John McCarthy was a poet and naturalist. He was awarded the John Burroughs Medal in 1928 for his book Nature Poems.


Lois Andrews was the lead character in Dixie Dugan, then appeared in minor films produced by husband George Jessel. She was later married to actor Steve Brodie, then Leonard Kleckner. Born Lorraine Gourley.

Rudolf Sieber was a producer, writer, and director in Europe. He was married to actress Marlene Dietrich for over fifty years, though they lived together for only the first five.


Frank Keenan was a stage and silent-movie actor, often performing while heavily drunk. His first wife, Katherine, died from a stroke while watching him on stage. They are the grandparents of actor Keenan Wynn.


Theodore Roberts was a stage and silent-movie actor who appeared in 23 of CB DeMille's films including as Moses in 1923's The Ten Commandments.

Felix Bressart was forced out of Germany in 1936, and starred in his first US movie, Swanee River in 1939. He appeared in Ninotchka, and To Be Or Not To Be.


Karl Hajos composed for stage musicals, then films including songs Falling Leaves, Beautiful Dawn, and Melodies Within My Heart. He wrote operettas including The Black Pierrot, The Red Cat Natja, White Lilacs, and America Sings.


Maury Gertsman was a cinematographer on Ma and Pa Kettle, To Hell and Back, The Creature Walks Among Us, and TV's Peter Gunn, Mister Ed, I'm Dickens He's Fenster, The Lucy Show, and Here's Lucy.

Ross Hunter was a minor actor and major producer of Pillow Talk and the Flower Drum Song, and was nominated for a Best Picture oscar for Airport.


Daniel Sugerman was hired by Jim Morrison to keep a scrapbook of The Doors. After Morrison's death, Sugerman eventually managed the other members, as well as Iggy Pop.


Stuart Regen appeared in the films "Foxfire" and "Leaving Las Vegas". He died from non-Hodgkins lymphoma at the age of 39.

Richard Poncher was a Beverly Hills resident, and has the dubious distinction of being reportedly entombed face down above Marilyn Monroe. His wife has tried to sell the crypt on Ebay without success.


Buddy Rich was a jazz drummer and bandleader. He started playing in vaudeville at age 18 months, and bandleading at 11 years. He reportedly had no training, and never practiced.


Jonathan Harris acted as the timid accountant in TVs The Third Man, and most-famously as Dr. Zachary Smith of the 1960s sci-fi TV series Lost in Space. He also was the voice of "Manny", a praying mantis in A Bug's Life.

Ronald Hughes was a court-appointed attorney who represented Manson family member Leslie Van Houten. He was killed under suspicious circumstances during a break in the trial.


Leonard Gershe was a lyricist for Broadway's Alive and Kicking, the musical of Destry Rides Again, the "Born in a Trunk" sequence from A Star Is Born, and wrote for the Ann Sothern sitcom Private Secretary, and The Lucy Show.

Irene Tedrow was actress of the 40s through the 80s, and was in TV's "The Twilight Zone," "Leave It to Beaver," and "The Mary Tyler Moore Show."


Writer Ernest Lehman wrote screenplays for "Sabrina", "The King and I", "North by Northwest", "West Side Story", and "The Sound of Music".

Queenie Leonard, born Pearl Walker, performed in cabaret in England and the US, had a one-woman show, acted in TV sitcoms, and provided voices for Disney cartoons.
