Fractal's cat image is a very good one. Feels like a moment of discovery for the feline.

Again using the Tamron 100-300 f5 and some slight darkening of shadows.

Not my pet and not really a pet. More a companion. A friend's neighbour has two cockatoos that live at his place. Here's one.

My reason for waking up every morning.
Well mostly because both the dogs have been inside all night and will pace from our bedroom to the back door once the sun is up until we let them out and feed them.

thanx all for keeping the thread alive. Lovely bunch of softies earlier Matt. I'm reminded of how I was rock'n the Cosina 55mm f/1.2 mostly wide open the other weekend that I needed to take off the card.

This is Pr1mo, a mix between a Border Collie and a Belgian Shepherd, the name Pr1mo means "first" in Italian, we give him that name because it is our first dog and he is the first born. We write Pr1mo with a "1" instead of a "i".

Not really a pet, but this is the local koala that inhabits my friends tree quite often.

So here's our other dog Rocco, this is also a mixture between a Border Collie and a Stabyhoun (= Dutch breed, Stabyhoun - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia)

Tonka, our husky mix.

Ok. I better not wear off the novelty of this.

This is almost goodbye

Our lovely cat, Mutty, is not going to be with us much longer. This was him 3 months ago.

Even then, he was pretty crook.

This was him yesterday.

We have to give him a daily drip to help with his dehydration problems. He's not in any pain and he seems to be enjoying life - just a bit slower than he used to. He has high blood pressure, a heart murmur, blown kidneys, muscle wasting and a few other problems. But, apart from that, he's doing OK.

He's such a lovely guy. He sits quietly while I stick the needle in.

Tripods are handy devices

Richard.

Wow, he sounds like a trooper. And you, giving him the daily drip. One of our cats (Borys) has a heart murmur and arrhythmia, and can't take heat. He had a couple of bad spells during the summer in hot, humid weather, but as we head into winter he's doing much better!

The first shot below is Borys last winter, hunting for some unsuspecting meadow vole under the snow - and no, he didn't get it! The second is of Borys (in the middle) and his sisters Ollie (foreground) and Tova (backgound) coming "on safari" as we call it, basically a walk in the pasture. In winter, we do it on snowshoes - the last is Ollie getting ready to take a rest on my snowshoes. They love to run along the track and attack one another!
