Warming his old bones

Our English Mastiff is aging the same as my wife and I it seems - those old bones sure need some warming on the cold mornings.

Here is Bentley doing just that - but I don't know how he can stand to be that close to the wood stove - you can't even hold your hand on the side of his head it is so hot.

Winnie was being a really willing subject this morning, normally he likes to ignore the camera. This was part of my Single in November Challenge:

D'awwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww the little tinies... Ahem yeah. Nice shots ^_^ How are degus temperament wise? Do they let you stroke them at all?

We considered getting degus, but got two little lady rats in the end. They genuinely are cute and lovely, but I got this shot the other day which would suggest otherwise:

A more relaxed one:

Aren't rodents awesome?

They are really sociable and beg for attention all the time, no problems there . I'm actually quite surprised how well they behave on hand, after only 1.5 weeks together. Young gerbils usually just ran around carelessly. Compared to them these guys feel calm and smart. I also like the wide range of different sounds they make.

I just finished building frame for their new large cage. I still need to cut and fasten the mesh. It will sit on top of the current terrarium to add more height. Built this, because they really seem to love climbing.

I also considered getting rats, but decided to go with the degus because rats live so short time. Your first shot is really cool "despite all my rage I am still just a rat in a cage"

I came across this old video of our cat who used up all her lives way too soon.
She was an energetic little thing!

You have to wonder what goes thru a cat's mind when they carry on like that . They are very skilled at amusing themselves!
