I feel like I'm finally leveling up in my action photography skills.

Coby likes to take a ball up the hill, then she drops it and chases it down the hill, takes it back up again. It's a hilarious game.

I think you are! Nice one, and that is funny. Coby looks adorably awkward. Perfect!

She sure is! She doesn't go half in when she's chasing something, she's a bit of a wrecking ball through the brush.

My new trick is to pre focus on a spot I know she's going to travel through and burst fire when she's in that zone. I find the keeper rate is a lot better than trying to focus with CAF, where it often trails behind her. Mind you, this totally falls apart if she takes a different line to get to me, thankfully she moves around a lot so there's a lot of time for honing the technique. I find with CAF, it's super hard to keep the center focus point on your subject when it's racing towards you, so you end up with a lot of shots with the ground behind your subject in focus. Burst mode is scary fast on the K3 with a high shutter speed and AF turned off!

A posed shot with the 645D while we were out last night. She has been joining me pretty regularly on my evening shoots (when there aren't really big cliffs right next to us) and now gets excited if I pick up the tripod and bag.

WOW.... I like your dog, BUT I LOVE your 645D. How big a difference between your SLR (which I believe you also have due to some of the other flickr shots) and your 645D? Thoughts on the 645D vs. the Z? The quality of that shot is pretty amazing.

Next step: train her to carry the gear.

Ha ha yeah it's nice. But it's big. And heavy. And slow. But the files are really great to work with. So much shadow detail! Z is faster to use and much better high ISO (D only goes to 1600 and not as well). But the D was affordable while the Z still out of reach. I shoot the crop bodies for fast moving stuff, traveling light, and that sort of thing. But I love the D too. And of course Luna!
For landscapes and portraits it's really a great camera. I had (still have) a 645 film body that I tried for a few months before deciding to go for the D. MF is a commitment.

Hmmm. I get nervous sometimes if anyone else carries my stuff so having her chase rabbits with it would be too much!

Seems that way... K1 maybe not so much....

Yet another picture of Bree. This one taken with my K3 II and a Takumar 135mm 2.5. Was a quick shot - but I love the eyes (and the lens isn't bad either...)
