Ooh, I think I see some potential ski lines. Anyone ever ski that zone?

The big ski hills are over near Huntsville. There is 33 km of X-country ski trails some of which you are looking at, and if you knew where to look you'd see the Thistle lake cabin, with the wood stove and woodpile, waiting for you turn up and have lunch.

In the summer they are equestrian trails. There's a campground with turns-arounds for horse trailers and folks come and camp, and go riding the trails in the day. I don't think there are any horse accessible campsites for overnights.

Sounds nice. I'm eyeing the powdery hills in #2, #6, and #8 for fresh turn potential.

#2 is the hill behind the town dump. There's a ski trail back there maintained by an old guy with a horse and a couple of border collies. We haven't seen him this year or last, but his trails are still cleared. We, used to snow shoe on them from time to time. He had about a 7 km loop that went over some beautiful ridges. Now that he's gone, there are no more ski trails back there.
