Pepi.
Picked him up as a stray 1.8 pound kitten and now he's a gigantic16 pounds without a bit of fat on him.
Powerful, muscular and gentle and not nearly as intimidating as he looks here. Due to an emergency we took in the neighbors big Lab for a few days and they got along fine. Slept together and groomed each other and seemed to be pals except that Pepi wanted to play more than the old dog was up to.

When we picked him up that first day as a kitten and as an adult.

I had a cat like that once. 16 pounds as house cat. I took him out in the country where he turned to 16 pounds of muscle. He was the only cat I've ever seen who could catch a squirrel going up a tree even if the squirrel has a bit of a head start.

Moe wishes he could catch a squirrel.

In his dreams maybe.

Jeannie wishes the same, although I wonder what would happen if she actually did.

Luna is really quick and might actually be able to get one although I hope she never does. She chased a big buck that was hanging out in the neighborhood yesterday and was right on its heels. I suspect she would have no idea what to do if she actually got a hold of something!

Astro the cat loves the dog bed. Luna feels a little crowded by the arrangement but is gradually warming up to it.

I once watched a feral cat stalk and kill a squirrel outside our cabin window.
It acted exactly like the big cats of Africa and Asia - slow careful stalking and then in an instant it was on the squirrel's back, a deep bite to the spine, a shudder from the prey and then dead. It was all over in 30 seconds.

Canines are pack hunters and at a disadvantage as pets - they have no pack to hunt with except their humans.

Luna is gorgeous! Love the shot where she shares the bed with Astro. This photo reminded me of a similar scene here in my place. Here is the shot I took.
