Cottage dog, happy on a hike!
I keep coming back to this photo, kind of wondering what's happening here. What's the story behind this one?

The way the "cottage dog" has its forepaw gripping the surface reminds me of how our dogs when happy, or having found an interesting smell on the ground, would lie down, dig their forepaw claws into the ground, and rub the side of their neck up and down against the ground. I guess it rubs and scratches them behind the ears where all dogs seem to like our fingers to go (base of the tail is great as well).

Just a dog met while we traveling. Cute little fellow.

DYKT: All brachycephalic dog breeds have severe breathing problems. In some it can cause constant sleep apnia, so the dog cannot stay asleep more than 30 minutes at a time, and it may cause premature death as irritation in the throat caused by the poor air intake induces swelling that can occlude the air passage completely. In such dogs the soft palate extends far back into the throat, sometimes all the way to the larynx ("voice box'). With the explosive increase in popularity of brachycephalic breeds in the USA, surgery to correct the soft palate problem is now among the three most common surgical procedures on dogs in this country. Typical cost, about $3000 USD provided there are no complications.

Came across an image of Tralee from a couple years back that I never processed. She's probably looking back to see where M is.
