Did you notice the fading vandalism paint on the memorial? Even here, at least a mile from the nearest pavement or building, thoughtless people will deface something for no other reason than they can get away with it, and think it's a great joke.
From that description, Chuck must have been a self-reliant and socially responsible person. Thus, exactly the sort of person THOSE people target for abuse, even after death. Being slackers themselves, and wanting to encourage the development of slacker culture (that which is excessively tolerant of self-importance), it makes them feel bad about themselves to have identified a person who's got his own head on straight. Such a person is obviously a danger to the collective.

Not just "ferociously determined to believe almost anything other than the truth", but willing to kill or injure those who speak it and live it. Or at least spray-paint the monument.

Temporary Pet Dicky-Bird
He smacked the window and was stunned for a while, so we took care of him while he recovered. He didn't thank us or nothing.

The expression on the dog in the second image is worth sharing. That, as my son would say, is a hoot.

Nice pic....however, I had a friend who grew up on a farm and his Father imparted the following wisdom: don't name or get emotionally attached to any farm animal that you may have to eat, sell or put down.....thus, he never named his livestock or poultry. I assume "Rosie" is a keeper....

Laney

Laney I know is a keeper.....beautiful dog

aye - all of the hens are keepers and will probably live out their entire natural lives here at PbF - the missus knew when she brought them home as chicks that they could stop laying tomorrow and they'd be welcome just the same...
