Daisy. A one-hit-and-hope type of shot while she cracked out a huge yawn. Manually focussed with the SMC-M 50mm f/1.7 from nearly wide-open.

Dahlia. Most of the glue used to hold Sheltie ears into the "semi-erect*" position until that becomes permanent has worn off, and consequently D's ears are almost fully up (the right more than the left in this image), and her ears are more up today about a week after this image was taken. All our previous Shelties had fully upright ears. We're indifferent to semi-erect versus upright. Regardless of the ears, Shelties have a quizzical, perky, intelligent and pretty/cute face

* Specifically, 1/4 of the tip of the ear should bend forward & down. There are other conformation specifications on the spacing and size of the ears. Sounds fussy, but if dogs are to be evaluated for conformation, there must be some exact descriptions of what a "perfect" member of the breed should look like. And BTW, another description of a Sheltie's expression is "loving."

Ooow, I love those sweet grey faces. Makes me think of our black labrador; her face was a mixture of back and grey during her last few years. ♥
