On saturdays we regularly buy "Carnitas" (Mexican Slow Cooker Pulled Pork) at a market stall, there they give us bones for the dog.

Tasi has the kind of doggie face, the kind of steely stare that make me glad she's domesticated and friendly.

She does have a predator's intensity, though she's extremely gentle and submissive around humans; she loves kids, especially babies; you can give her a piece of meat by hand, and she'll be careful not to even graze your fingers with her teeth.

But if there's a rabbit, or a lizard, or an injured bird, suddenly she's a wolf. She's caught and eaten several birds, even while on a leash. Skippy, on the other hand... if she caught a chicken, I think she'd just lick it and tell me all about the new friend she's made.

Glad to hear that Tasi is such a sweetheart. Our first Sheltie, Vaila Brae, looked gentle, but she was a one family dog who disliked strange men in particular. She threaten to tear out their intestines, and although it was 95% bluff she was very good at it. She could be a bit "prickly." Our vet set about yanking out porcupine quills after she got a muzzle full and I warned him, a fraction too late, "I wouldn't do that!" She whipped her head around and just banged his hand with her teeth, not actually biting. but it backed him off quickly enough and he decided to sedate her to remove the rest of the quills, as he should have done in the first place just out of common consideration for the dog's comfort. Our son, whom VB adored, used to call her "land shark."

I would add "and it's CUTE, too," but Jeannie and sadly missed Tino always carry along a measure of cuteness.
