This is Fiona (or maybe Phiona) our daughter's cat. Strictly indoors because she's been declawed, although she still goes through the motions of "sharpening*." She will accept some petting, scratching, then without warning swat with her harmless paw, hiss fiercely, and try to bite. Bipolar I guess.

*I very much doubt that the way cats scratch on a tree trunk, rug, scratching post or your best upholstered furniture has anything to do with "sharpening" their claws.

Au contraire... the scratching removes the old, dull outer layer of the claw, exposing the fresh, new, needle-sharp layer below. You can sometimes see the old, shed claw material on the surface of whatever they scratched.

Pretty girl, regardless!

Here we find the Golden Retriever in his natural habitat.

The predator guards his kill from passing scavengers.

Maggie loves her some mud!

Fortunately, once we leave the mud-pools, she cleans up pretty good in the stream

Do I post here, or in the "farm animals" thread? Technically she's a working dog!

Annabelle on her personal perch out in the sun room, but she spends far more time sleeping on the furniture out there. Recently the hassock has been her particular favorite, it's in direct sun for a long time.
