I like the symbolism; silhouette, unknown stranger. Like a comic book.

The brass cannon (Canon 85mm f/1.9) is growing on me. I tried all my shots at f/2.8 last weekend, where it looks almost modern. The FA77 is better in pretty much every way, but there's a novelty factor with using a 70-year-old lens.

Trying out the autofocus with my new K3 iii and the FA 70-210 F4 with one of my favourite subjects, Bailey. I don't know why the exif info is showing 300mm, but it wasn't. It tracks much better than my KP.

One of my dog park friends is dog-sitting a black goldendoodle puppy, 14 weeks old, named Storm. She told me she hadn't been able to get a decent picture of her yet. I didn't think much of it. I get pictures of black dogs all the time. Just bring up the shadows a bit, no problem, right? Well...

Storm's eyes are so dark they might as well be black. Her coat has absolutely no other shade than black. Her curly hair reveals none of the shape beneath, with no gloss to define the contours of her face. Generally, in a portrait you want to draw the viewer's attention to the face, and everything about this dog works against that. Ugh.

She is pretty cute, though.

I had to go decompress on some photographer-friendly faces for a bit.

Having 3 black dogs myself, I've learned a few processing tricks that help.

Talking about black dogs and being hard to photograph... the new puppy contrasted against her older, much lighter, brother.

I tie their leashes together so running away would be a joint effort... it works sometimes.
