One of my dog park friends is dog-sitting a black goldendoodle puppy, 14 weeks old, named Storm. She told me she hadn't been able to get a decent picture of her yet. I didn't think much of it. I get pictures of black dogs all the time. Just bring up the shadows a bit, no problem, right? Well...
Storm's eyes are so dark they might as well be black. Her coat has absolutely no other shade than black. Her curly hair reveals none of the shape beneath, with no gloss to define the contours of her face. Generally, in a portrait you want to draw the viewer's attention to the face, and everything about this dog works against that. Ugh.
She is pretty cute, though.
I had to go decompress on some photographer-friendly faces for a bit.
