Watched some dock diving with dogs at the Ottawa pet expo. Great event, very challenging to photograph without a flash! These are at high ISO, better than nothing - the black dog is a 130 pound Newfoundland we fostered for a good while, she loved it.

The last photo was done with trailing flash. It's technically a bad photo (on camera flash, weird composition) but it's my favorite of the bunch. The dog was washed out, but I managed to dial back the flash in post.

Fun shots! I agree the last is probably the best. Would be better with the tail in the frame but other than that the composition is pretty good. Subject is moving into the frame, rule of 1/3 is used, you have the reactions of spectators, and the dog looks great.

After a day of running around the rocks at the lake, Jeannie was still not ready to go home. It took quite a bit of coaxing (and chasing!) to finally get her back to the car

Thanks Matt, that's my feeling too. It's a great challenge to try to get photos of dog sports, things happen so quickly! Definitely an element of luck to it, I'm happy to have so many opportunities to practice.

Took some time yesterday to shoot individual shots of the puppies and to determine the gender. It looks like there are 6 boys and 3 girls. I'll only post a couple of the pictures so you can see what a 3 day old puppy looks like.

We had one of those, until she barged into our house to have her kittens and never left.

This is Bandit, one of the ferals in the colony here . The "tipped" left ear marks him as neutered (most of the colony has taken The Ride to be neutered; the county's animal services agency has an excellent TNR -- trap, neuter, return -- program for ferals.
