he's what we call an 'inertia' dog; tends to stay at whatever state he's in... he hates to get up in the mornings... and then will run all day long...

Need I say that he shares that behavior pattern with many, many others, and not just among the canines.

Seems like our pets have a name, and then names. Our cat Mycelium was always called Moldy. Alicki's Sheltie was officially Vaila Brae, unofficially and all the time "V-B," "Bale of Hay," and "Land Shark." Our present cat Annabelle is inevitably just "Annie," but M refers to her as "The Evil One."
