There's a chance a dog like that will enjoy being hosed, or maybe will even clean themselves given a lawn sprinkler.

Both true, or a dunk in the canal. But there weren't any running sprinklers nearby, and the half of the park with a hose is closed for maintenance, so it was into the bathtub when we got home. We walk to the park, so at least the car was safe.

Something you might be grateful for - - Our daughter's Sheltie, Vaila Brae, long gone but still missed, liked to roll in other dogs' deposits. One day she found a mass left by a much bigger dog that had diarrhea, and before I could stop her she rolled and covered herself with great drippy globs of it. She had a smell that would nauseate a troll . My own Sheltie, Maddy, didn't want to get into the back of the SUV with her. Despite needing to leave quickly for work, I had to give VB an emergency bath as soon as we got home because I was pretty sure M would be annoyed if I just left her running around the house and going to sleep on the sofa. Be grateful for a dog that only gets muddy and that doesn't mind being washed.

Oh man, that's terrible!

You'll get no complaints from me. I get a kick out of seeing her enjoy the mud, and so does everyone else at the park (especially since it's not their dog ).

Thanks Walt. This was just a phone snap I'd forgotten about...and bittersweet for me since we lost Tino about this time last year.

Curiously, moments before reading this post from you I was thinking about Maddy and how sad I was when I took her in to be put down.

This is our current foster dog Midnight. His previous owners did not have his ear infections treated and he now requires having both ear channels removed (Total Ear Ablation). His right ear was done in July and his left ear this past Wednesday. I still need to get a post operation picture, as half his head was shaved for the operation.
