Did you see or do you remember the Peanuts sequence where Snoopy is retrieving airborne soap bubbles and bringing them back to Charlie Brown who comments to Linus something along the lines of "He has a deft touch."

It was a series of four-framers and in the last, Snoopy goofs, swallows a bubble he's transporting, and for the next few frames Schultz has fun with the shape of Snoopy's face.

Butter would not melt in her mouth, but approaching her first birthday she cut - or rather chewed short the service life of two shoelaces, on different shoes of course..

We think, and hope, she's passing through the "terrible ones" and will outgrow this chew-it-if-it-feels-good stage. She's also shredding miscellaneous bits of paper and the corners of some wooden furniture, fortunately nothing precious or valuable. Her beloved predecessor went through such a stage and outgrew it.

prolly so! always an interesting time.....was quite fortunate that Barney only went through 1 pair of slippers but they were also 'given' to him when it was apparent he would not leave them be.....they became his and has not moved on to another pair since....about 3 yrs ago

About once daily I give Dahlia a commercial chew stick, some dried rawhide wrapped with a little jerky meat. Small ones for her, only slightly larger in diameter and 2/3 the length of a soda straw. About 30 minutes after she gets one, there's nothing to pick up.

a satisfactory treat!! Barney is notorious for bringing sticks (in some cases branches) into the house via doggy door and chews them up with many many pieces to clean and pick up!

I retrieved them for you. Apparently Mr. Schultz used the gag a couple of times over the half century he continued the strip. The first one you mentioned was published May 23rd, 1956.

Boy, what a touch!

*gulp*
