Dahlia yesterday (Tuesday 20th) on the remains of a trolley line that operated over "The Notch" of the Holyoke Range from 1897 to 1932. The embankment at left gives an idea of the effort made to construct this trolley line, There's a much larger man-made fill up over the high point of the line on the south side.

What a beautiful place for a dogwalk (or any kind of walk).

Annabelle has three priorities: food, sleep, comfort (which also involves warmth)

and not necessarily in that order! she is a quintessential cat, Walt! I think ours would rate "comfort" and "sleep" ahead of food, although their very well-calibrated kitty-clocks do mark breakfast and dinner hours reliably.

When they're too tired to run around anymore, they'll just lay down and bite each other for a bit.

M and Dahlia sitting on a make-shift bench during our Friday walk. On a crystal-clear day near noon the light was extremely contrasty. We think people from the mountain bike club come through now-and-then to clear fallen trees along the woods roads and trails in this area. Along the major woodland road several recently fallen large trees that were awkward to get over or around had been cut enough to allow a cyclist to get by without dismounting. The road ends at a little pond that's right in front of the bench. I suspect they decided on a lark to make this bench out of logs from a nearby fallen tree. Brush has been cleared along the edge of the pond to allow either fishing or swimming.

How come the first stick in the morning is always the best?

Seriously though, this dog loves wood! I swear she'd be fine if we fed her mulch instead of kibble. I figure she gets that from the mountain dog side.

I had fallen behind taking some pictures during our walk yesterday. Dahlia hustled to catch up with M who gave her a treat. Then I called Dahlia back and gave her a treat, then M called her to her side of the bridge and gave her another treat for coming. By the time I called her back to my side Dahlia had caught on to the profitability of the game and was all-in enthusiastic.

"I got this, Dad!"

Hysterical, Walt. Love it!

Of course the cats here know all about "T-time" -- we have to spell it because they know what "treat" means, and they know the time window (late morning) when they can expect to hear the rattle of the jar. "We got this, Mom and Dad!"

My first photo of Bandit with my new K3iii and second frame with it ever. The actual first frame with the K3iii was of my feet as I scrolled around the menu. My shod feet do not qualify as pets nor a self-portrait.
