Trucks the basset. How could you say "no" to a face like that?

Those ears! Wouldn't take much head drooping for them to drag the ground! (and no, I couldn't resist that face!)

This is Kit on the day we brought him home. OK, his ears aren't quite as long as Truck's above and, to be fair, there is a couple of centimetres of length that is fur but somebody once asked me if he was a Basset!

Such dogs really need a specially shaped feeding bowl that keeps their ears out of the dog food. So easy to read human emotions into that face. For the most part the bassets I've encountered have been very friendly dogs, but I don't think I've ever seen one at an agility trial. BION: There have been St. Bernard, several Great Danes.and a mastiff that lumbered around, not exactly competitive, but dog & owner were enjoying themselves which is the whole point at CPE trials.

BTW: AM I alone in remembering Cleo the basset hound in the TV series "The People's Choice?"

Ages ago some friends of my parents had a cocker spaniel with exceptionally long ears...the tips always needed grooming because of food particles. <ick>

Yes, I remember Cleo. Many smiles!

I had him at an obedience display once and someone came up to me and said "He's too pretty to be a boy!"

Never too pretty!

Those ear-snoods are a clever solution for ears-in-dish. They must make meal-time a big adventure, though. I trust everyone knows the drill by now.

They see the snood and they put their heads up to receive it. Snood fitted=DINNER. They know the drill!

On her own initiative Dahlia decided to scramble atop a boulder. She looks right proud of herself for succeeding.
