A Brenizer image taken looking downwards into the garden of my parents-in-law's neighbours. I don't have my M 85mm f/2 where I'm isolating so here I used the M 100mm f/2.8, which gives a sharper image but with a less pronounced effect.

Thanks. This lens is clearly soft if you take that last step to wide open, but provides also smoother bokeh. I need to try it at some point thought, as focal length was really good to stitch.

I think Brenizer in the woods is just a great reason to do one (as you prove so well), this one from a long time ago, must get back there soon!

Am I doing this right? A 15 image stitch using the K-50 and A 400/5.6, with Mr Deer from the Silly Coronavirus "Self Isolation" Household images thread being a willing subject for my experiments...

I don't really like to comment on the success or failings of another persons image, but in regards to Brenizers I would ask you to consider these two questions (I know I do);

"Does the finalised image resemble something that actually looks more like something that a Medium Format camera could muster?"

Or..

"Does the image actually look like a regular single shot that could be managed with perhaps a different lens?"

If you answered yes to the first question, it was probably a success. If you answered yes to the second question is was probably an attempt that fell flat.

Lot's of things make the success of a Brenizer shot, it has to have a strong surreal 3D pop, sometimes scenes with layering and different items at different distances help drive that vibe (such as the woodland shot above). But even small stitches or a single shot from a certain lens <*cough FA31 cough*> can derive that look more successful than a multiple stitched shot.

Here's some Medium Format shots that natively have the look that a Brenizer is trying to emulate;

Thanks for your input Bruce, that's why I'm posting here - to learn

Looking through this thread I've seen a lot of impressive photos, which give me some inspiration to try something similar. Still trying to work out all this stitching stuff too... Now as far as if I could manage this shot with another lens, not with one I own - the stitching certainly added to a thinner DoF than I could do in one shot, but whether it's a Brenizer or not, it's progress

I've had plenty of Brenizers fall flat, we're all learning.

I am loading a stack now. 5 done. I got some with effect and some with composition but not both. I am learning to see by trial.
I keep making mistakes like i just did adjustments without selecting all the photos. Found out 20 minutes of rendering later then started over figuring the patchwork of light was distracting.
Still waiting on this next one.

First outing with my 6x7 S-M-C TAKUMAR 150mm f2.8. Thirteen frames hand-held.

Thanks. I liked so much myself that I had to make an other today. This time I shot wide open. No problems with sharpness. Took 15 shots for this.
