As the first place finisher of challenge #42 (my most humble appreciation), the task of initiating and judging the next challenge falls to me. I have shared with Manel (the judge of #42) that I don't feel I have the depth of knowledge to provide the exceptional critique that he offered us. But we're going to give it a shot anyway! So, please be kind!
One of my favorite spots for capturing images is the Adirondack Mountain region of New York State. The Adirondack Park is comprised of about 6.1 million acres. It is larger than Yellowstone, Yosemite, Glacier, Grand Canyon and Great Smokies combined! It is also the largest protected area in the contiguous United States. The Adirondack Park contains 85% of all wilderness in the eastern United States. It is the largest wilderness area east of the Mississippi. And if you visit here, you will discover that the Adirondack Park has over 2,000 miles of hiking trails; these trails comprise the largest trail system in the nation. So many people think of skyscrapers and throngs of people when they think of New York and don't even realize what "Upstate" truly means.
And so I offer as challenge #43, a shot that I captured during one of my many adventures through the region. I've tried to process this image several times but I've never found just the look I've been after. The shot has issues! And so, I now turn that task over to all of you!
I am providing three different versions of the image for you to work with. Feel free to begin with whatever file you choose. Right-click to save the file to your computer. They are:

Our desired outcome is something that any good tourism board would want to put in their brochure or post on their web site.
Submissions must be posted by 5/31/2011 at 5pm. And, I will do my very best to provide a thoughtful evaluation and selection of the winner as quickly as I can after that date!
I hope you enjoy this challenge!
Thanks!
