Thanks! I love the Rokinon. It's great for the price. It does a nice job wide open or nearly wide open, with the expected pf in bright, high contrast situations. I haven't really done much with it stopped down. I think 2.8 is as far as I've taken it, and there it is razor sharp. I find that it provides a very slightly darker exposure wide open than my M 50 f/1.4, but it's not a big deal. I'd love to have the Tak or M 85 1.8, but I couldn't find one I could afford. And this is an A lens, which is convenient.

Someday I'd like to get my hands on a Takumar 105 f/2.8. It seems to make for very natural looking photos.
The Super Tak 105/2.8 is my most used Tak, the focal length is quite versatile. As an added bonus, it takes to Post Processing like a Duck to Water, if that makes sense and at all possible

Super Takumar 105/2.8

Great shots everyone! It's nice to see this thread still going and all the different primes out there that I would have overlooked without seeing some of these shots. Here is one of my recent pictures, not my best...I was trying the M50mm f1.7 wide-open and it was rather tough to get enough in focus...and the lighting was horrendous Oh and her expression, well I have no clue what that was all about. Some friends and I were just making goofy faces all night. No serious pictures!

Turn the glass upside down and maybe you could take the glass is half-full approach. Harsh, un-diffused light with high contrast might make a good moody grayscale conversion. Then maybe split tone it to help emphasize a mood or something. Just thinking out loud.

Leica Summilux 50mm ASPH on Sony NEX-5N (first outing) - no PP, just auto setting in Camera Raw and convert to grayscale:

Ha ha! Here's one with that world-renowned portrait lens, the DAL 55-300.

Nice work with the zoom (shows again how important good light is) but you really belong here:

Tuco, here is my first attempt (and a rather quick one) at split toning. I like how the picture looks in B&W as well, but I have been waiting to try split tone. I think flickr may have killed some of the color detail. Anyways, is this more of what you were thinking about? Thanks again for the idea!

Well, what do you think about it? It looks pretty nice to me given what you started with.

Yowsa, now that is a very nice portrait. Keep producing these and your wife will be begging you to buy more camera gear

Well, maybe I have to do more of her - she is already jealous of the little lady and all the attention she gets!

But more gear will only come after I start making money with the pics... Looking at exhibiting some sunsets some time this year maybe...

Well it was a quick edit that I did before class today and it needs refining, but I like it much better than the original. Thanks again!
