Thank you Martin. Known locally as Samoosas, they are indeed filled with a wide variety of food stuff- Cheese and Onion, Cheese and corn, Curried Potato, vegetable Curry, and the meats cooked with spices-Lamb, Pork, beef, Chicken, and occasionally fish. The traditional ones are about 6cm sided , but increasingly today, to cater for greedy okes like me, they are larger than your hand.. It's a South Asian dish, and probably arrived in SA via the Indonesian and Malaysian slaves that were brought to South Africa.
