I searched this forum and didn't find any threads started by anyone else about this subject. I started it because I know there a lot of us out there shooting bugs/insects. Show me yours. Please keep photos submitted to this category, and only up to 6 per reply. Pentax camera preferred but you can use p&s, or those other brands. Albiet no phone cams.
Please for use common sense when posting photos, nothing larger than 1024px on the long side.
Macros are my favorite shots, but any other are acceptable also. I'll start out this thematic thread with one I found yesterday:

It's name is Assassin Bug, and it attacks other insects, mainly Bees.

Thanks! I'm using a cheap Pentax A 50mm f./2 on 68mm (one set) of type A extension tubes

Edit: enoeske, that second shot is really striking! Love the eyes. Is it some kind of robber fly?

Yes, that second one is a robberfly (I'm fairly sure). He was buzzing around me so I crouched down, he landed on the leaf looking at me like that. I moved in for the shot and he buzzed away, but seconds later landed in the same spot. I snapped two shots and he flew off again, for good.

Philoslothical, bugs sure look uglier when we photograph them up close.

Here's another of mine, also an entry in Single in August: It was sprinkling outside that day. I took a chance of taking my K-x and non WR lens out for this shot. I used a Sigma 70-300mm on macro settings.

All of the photos were probably taken with K-7, D-FA 100mm f2.8 WR Macro, Kenko 1.5x TC, and Sigma 530DG Super flash + stofen diffuser on a custom bracket.

Hi all. Here's a cicada that I got last weekend in Seoul. I think his face looks like the grille on an old-time pickup truck. Also a beetle that I saw in Vietnam (Mekong Delta) last December. Both taken with K200D and 35mm f2.8 Ltd Macro...

ohhh I am loving the bugs well done all - I am just starting to get into the small world - don't have much time left as winter is approaching. Here's a spider that was in the wrong place at the wrong time (hiding beding the flowers, in the siding of the house as my wife was watering them) along with a bonus big who just happen to crawl into the shot.
