Most of my insects & spiders have been posted on Alphabet Race or I Spy threads, but here are a few not previously shown. The grasshopper is by far the best of these.

More insects shot with DFA100WR

This was shot at 2:1 ratio with a Raynox M-150

Cropped this one somehow heavily, pretty shy fly

This was shot @ MFD (1:1) with slight crop

And here to see the real size of it on my finger

Great Spangle Fritillary, IMHO about the prettiest butterfly locally.

Here in Georgia we have the Gulf Fritillary, also a beauty. Their caterpillars eat passion flower plants, both the leaves and the fruit. With the vines growing around our mailbox we have butterfly "ranch" most of the summer.

Tiger (or yellow) swallowtail, favorite butterfly for many here. A similar white rather than yellow "zebra swallowtail" seems to displace this one in the southeast.

These little black-speckled--on-orange butterflies are very common. There are scores of species that differ in small details of the pattern.

A couple images I took earlier in the year using a K5 II with the Sigma 150-500 mm. I recently purchased the Pentax 100 mm macro lens, and I'm looking forward to trying more insect photos this coming summer.

Found this scan-from-a-chrome that I don't think has been posted. Focus point is a bit far back, on the distant wing rather than the body.
