A long-jawed orb weaver, perhaps.

I'll check my book, but I don't think this is an orb weaver. It's web looks rather unplanned, to put it kindly.

Some of the LJOW make pathetic looking structures. But it could also be a cellar spider given where you are finding them.

I had previously identified this as a cellar spider (Phalcus phalangioides), but according to the book, it should have "..eight eyes elevated on a prominence..." which does not seem to apply, unless I am misinterpreting the presence of a ridge (prominence) connecting the two eye triads and elevating the median eyes..

Here's a big spider, almost disappears against the fading Q-A lace.

A harvestman perhaps? (not actually a spider - a different family)

This website is useful for all kinds of bugs and if you still can't ID it you can request identification if you want. I have done it a couple of times and usually get a response back from a university professor within a couple of hours. It helps them get information on the distribution of the bug concerned.

Definitely NOT a harvestman. This is a web-spinning spider, genus Pholcus or at least in the same family.

Qualitative characters are difficult that way, so subjective to interpretation. I had a better look at your photo and compared it more images. Those eyes are on a slight prominence (but that is a terrible character, so I can see why it confused you). It's the spitting image of a cellar spider, in my opinion!

It's been cold enough lately that many insects won't move, making it easy to get in their faces.

Curious little fellow from a couple years back. Suspect it's a nymph rather than an adult.

You're correct, looks like a planthopper nymph.

Four-spotted skimmer dragonfly

This is a common dragonfly, but still impresses.

These longhorns look like ichneumonid wasps to me. Interesting how their elytra are so reduced as to barely be useful in protecting the hind wings.

Blistering sex. There is a corner of my backyard where blister beetles show up each year to do what comes naturally .
