Playing with my macro flash rig (pair of Sunpak PF20XD units), and with extension tubes. This is the Bokina on its 1:1 adapter plus about 50mm of extension (couple of de-glassed TCs), which gets me close to 1.5x magnification with a little bit more working distance than I'd get from a reversed lens. Image is slightly cropped. Stupidly left the camera at ISO 400 from a previous session, so it's noisier than it ought to be.

Nass, When you are entirely unhappy with it, throw it my way. I can get some bragging rights! Incredible shot, beautiful colours too.

I know, it's not technically an insect, but it is a bug.

Not a Pentax camera either and it's bit too dark to see any details.

I knew the minute I posted that statement someone would correct me. I wasn't around when those were popular, so I mistakenly thought it wasn't a Pentax. Thanks for the info.

Here's a snap from earlier today in the yard. We have a bunch of these little yellow flowers scattered around in the grass - they open up in the late morning, and close up by mid-afternoon. The bug is about 1/8" in length. Can anyone ID the flower or the bug? (x-posted to Tiny Flowers thread)

Technically not a bug either. But a nice perspective on this spider, which certainly fits in this thread AFAIAC.

Speaking of spiders, hangman43 is that a pet?

And speaking of bugs -- that one IS technically a "true bug"! Nice flashy red trim.

paulh, I can't help with ID of either flower or insect, but that is an interestingly shaped one.

Bokina on extension again, about 1.5:1 (uncropped):

Stichopogon (?), family Asilidae (Robber flies)
