A damselfly spotted yesterday in a nature parc near Montréal. I don't suppose anyone might have an idea of the species? Just wondering... (2nd shot is x-posted.)

Some fairly decent sized moth resting near the top of a hill in the West Scottish Highlands. Unfortunately Flickr has muddied some of the details. Shot with the Vivitar 28mm MC Close Focus at 1:5 ratio, though with a fair bit of cropping.

The first image, ant portrait is a marvelous capture. I know all too well how hard it is to track and photograph those fast, endlessly moving insects. They pay absolutely no attention when I yell "hold it!"

I was on a roll last weekend! More to come, but pretty happy with these three, especially the grasshopper instar.

Here's the first Nomad bee I've seen at Fermilab. This one is on Zizia (golden alexander).

Despite being a very windy day I got a few images worth sharing.
Here's an Augochlorella bee (green) and a pinkish crab spider with a soldier fly meal.

And of course this time of year, plenty of Andrena out there taking care of business.

Four insects from yesterday morning, the first opportunity I've had to spend a few hours out in the field (dual family crises). K1 with either a 100mm f2.8 DA or a Voigtlander 180mm f4 mounted on a Tokina 1:1 adapter (intended for my ancient 90mm f2.5 Tokina macro). The Voigtlander + adapter is more compact and lighter than my old 200mm f4 SMCA macro, but the IQ is not entirely satisfactory, nowhere near as good as the 200. I took it out as an experiment, but it will probably be reserved for traveling where every small reduction of size & weight are appreciated.
The honey bee was practicing Yoga.
