It's taken a while to get out with the macro lens this year, but I've made a start at least with this (immature) Large Red Damselfly (K-3 + Pentax-F 1:1.28 100mm macro)

My last photo is of Lovebugs. I couldn't remember what they were called. So, thinking about why I had heard of them before (they clogged car radiators and ruined paint jobs on cars) I searched Google for those words and came up with the answer I was searching for, thanks Google.

Top notch macro. Plane of focus exactly right.

thanks - I had the luxury of being able to brace the camera against the wall and move it towards slowly the damselfly, which makes a big difference

Oh, yes. Walls, trees, large stones and tripods = my good friends in the battle against this mornings MDR of caffeine.

Like the cicada shot Roger. I see live ones, and the shell from after the fact, I've never caught one emerging. Nicely done. TFS.

I'm still shooting what flies I find in the yard. Today's catch: a Flesh Fly

Thanks. I was doing a focus stack and did not dare move for fear of ruining the stack. That Cicada was 1/4 up my leg when I noticed it. Very light and delicate touch.
