Not too much out today I got a big green stinkbug and this dragonfly that floowed me to see what I would stir up. The grasshoppers just got their wings and this guy tried for a big one but just knocked him out of the air and thought better of the idea. I did capture my first skink but thats for the reptile thread.

A little front focused, but the best I got in the series of attempts.

I think this bee comes from the gates of hell.

these tiny tiny ants are in a frenzy. Now I see how gorged they are and think they finally found the aphids. I will follow the trail later.

must be mosquito larvae because its such a small container.

A skipper and two images of a beetle species that seems to be common at the moment, one solo, one with a partner atop a wild raisin flower.

I saw these two flies and went and got my Sigma 50mm F2.8 to try and get a macro shot. I took a couple as I got closer but they had presumably finished what they were doing and flew off.
Cropped a bit.

Even with only three frames, this was a difficult stack to stack, so to speak, as there was some slight movement. Much retouching (within Zerene) was needed. But then, I find that these long-legged green flies are usually so spooked by the first flash that any stack is impossible, so I pushed on... Very happy with the angle too.

That is technical achievement as well as a fine image. Some of those flies have nerve connections that pretty much transmit from the eyes directly to the wing muscles - no thought goes into a decision to stay or leave. Any detected motion sends them off quicker than I can press the shutter release

Swallowtail butterfly "panorama". Photoshop auto-selected panorama as the photo composite type rather than stacking, so I went with it.
