A new one for me, the Eastern Red Damselfly - a very attractive hunter.

Thank you so much! Got another one of this individual in the pipeline, but I'm off for a little vacation, so it will wait a few days...

Found a few old insect images that have not been posted, good enough to help toward the total.

Very pretty. I’ll add one that’s got a nice sting

These two were doing a dance in the woods, probably a mating ritual. I should have kicked up the ISO as the TV was no where near short enough to avoid blurring their wings.

One butterfly is hard enough but two!

---------- Post added 07-02-18 at 04:06 PM ----------

So I just went hunting and found a hunter. This is 2 bees murdered I have caught on pixels.

And a new to me katydid. A fork tailed bush

I tried at f32 just to see. With some post it isn't that bad. The dust spots are black holes but its better than my shot at this angle at f19 where you get the eye but no legs and no antenna in focus.

Aphid. Don't look closely, this subject was beyond the abilities of my Sigma 17~70mm

More from the Perpetual Front Porch Nocturnal Safari.

First, a mystery bug. I've never seen one of these before. The front end looks vaguely automotive. From the side it's got a hint of cicada, at least the bits behind the head.

A weevil.

A beetle; composite of two images.

Forgot to clean this one up; extra bonus sensor dirt!

Leaf hopper. You really don't get any idea of colouration and and patterns on these critters until you see them blown up like this.

A moth with a long schnoz.

A shield bug(?)

I think this is a weevil. I came across it on my dining room ceiling while wrangling spiderlings. Reversed 18-55, field of view is about 6mm wide.

You can make out the downturned nose a bit better on this crop.
