I don't generally shoot ants much, but you wouldn't know it from my recent stream...

That's an ant image worth seeing. Excellent detail.

I went this route instead, absolutely rock solid and very low... it's me getting up from down there that's the problem now.

Nice setup. But, what the hell happened to the front of the prism housing?

A crab spider?
Managed to catch the colours of this lily bud.
Damp and overcast so a poor image but the spider was noticed as I was having a quick look for lily beetles.

Did you mean the gaffer tape?

Debadging or logo removal is something I’ve always done it, it’s the same for all the brands of cameras that I own.

Three reasons, it acts as deterrent for the casual thief, as they become temporarily unsure about the brand they’re about to steal.

It cuts out any stray white name type reflections in surfaces.

Probably and for most importantly for me, when working anywhere in public, it stops any gear centric conversations.

It also keeps the old Kerrowdown stealthy when in “Street” mode, so folk just don’t see me.

Aha. Never thought of it that way.

Cunning plan!

I must have spent about 45 minutes shooting this very cooperative couple. The problem was the gusting wind! The leaf they were on practically never stopped moving. But whenever I find a cooperative subject, I always try to shoot as much as possible - lower magnification, higher magnification, different angles, stacks, etc. And after a little over 20 minutes, they moved slightly and gave me a point of view where I could have the leaf they were on as background... Bonus! I don't think I could do much better than this (a two-frame focus stack), except by finding an equally cooperative couple on a much less windy day...

I do much the same on those rare occasions when some wildlife, insect or bird or mammal, cooperates. With that shot, you scored an oustanding success. Cannot image getting a better image.
