Thanks for the compliment Noel

Bee & blossoms. The graininess speaks to the depth of the crop.

Male Gasteruption 'carrot wasp' which are parasites of other hymenoptera nesting in twigs and stems. I thought it was an Ammophila spider wasp - but there are so many varieties of wasps...

Colletes inaequalis male on Virginia Waterleaf. Really happy with this image.

SCAN from a chrome. A backswimmer resting on the underside of the water. A disorienting image IMHO

Another SCAN from the Film Era, when I swear insects were easier to find, and more diversified.

Was at the Flower Market here, more bustling because Chinese New Year is around the corner, they had these huge plants swarming with bees, had to take some shots.

Weevils working to make more weevils. There must be an explicit spot atop the female's head that triggers a reproductive sequence in her hormones. One summer these weevils were all over a particular flower (lupine?) in my garden. Other images - many chromes taken - will appear on various threads. SCAN.

I was playing with my macro gear recently, using a quite large (~15mm) dead insect found in the house as a subject.
After looking for its ID, I found that it is a recently envasive species from Asia. The Velvet Longhorned Beetle [Trichoferus campestris].
Saint-Jean-sur-Richelieu, Décembre 2020

This photo was made by stacking 10 frames to get more depht of field. (better to zoom on it for details)

Longicorne velours / Velvet Longhorned Beetle [Trichoferus campestris]

the 3 others photos were made with the Venus Optics Laowa 25mm F2.8 2.5-5x Ultra Macro, a various magnification (I didn't took notes, so approximatige magnifications are mentionned in flickr).

Spent a few minutes between showers today and caught a few insects on hibiscus, banana leaves, lupins, and another flowering shrub. The rain and wind knocks them around so towards end of their life some get a bit battered. K3 & Tamron 90 Macro Di SP The yellow only spent a few seconds at each flower so framing is not as precisely on head as I would like. I was just happy to get this close.

I like wet season as the insect activity becomes so intense!
