Holocephala robber flies...approximately 1 cm in length. They're ambush predators that perch on the tip of a leaf, twig or bloom, waiting for another small insect to fly by. They then dart out grab their prey and return to perch where they sit and, literally, suck the guts out of the unfortunate, gnat, fly, beetle or mosquito.

Oh, yeah... and they have really cool eyes...
