Aaron, that's how I started out in macro photography. Using closeup filter lenses. Though mine were the ones that only went up to 7 stacked. And on film before digital. Still a Pentax camera K1000.

Another butterfly captured with a little P&S extended to equivalent of about 500mm, hand held. IQ is fair, overall image pleasant.

A little butterfly that is very common in this region. DOF was a real problem, in case you didn't notice.

cool! bet the film is really nice......i'm slowly getting sucked in......not sure if its a step up but ordered a sigma 28-80 II rather inexpensive and is 1:2.....reckon when a get some more dollars I think I will get the tamron 90/2.8 and go bonkers!
